B. Chave
is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington
where he teaches composition, orchestration and theory. Honors and awards
include first prize in the 1985 Oriana Trio International Composition
Competition, and the grand prize in the 1993 Best Song in the Universe Contest
sponsored by the Tandy Corporation. In 1996 Fort Worth Star-Telegram
music critic, Wayne Lee Gay, recognized him as one of the top ten young
composers in the United States. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Texas
Music Teachers Association, the Saint Francis University Chorale and numerous
other organizations have commissioned his works. In 2002 he was awarded a
faculty development leave to compose the opera Hatshepsut.
Alliance Music, Harold Gore Music, Manduca Music and Norruth Music,
Incorporated publish his music. Several of his works are recorded including
Three Reflections which appears on Elizabeth Morrow's Soliloquy
CD released by Centaur Records. Chave has been a fellow at the
Sundance Film Institute and the Ragdale Artist Colony, and his music has been
performed throughout the United States and in Mexico, Canada, Europe and Korea.
